More 1MDB-linked forfeiture suit dismissed, another sign of Muhyiddin’s nod to Najib

Malaysian Mirror       Tuesday, June 23, 2020
With the latest news about Tan Sri Musa Aman’s acquittal from 46 counts of charges on 9 June 2020, followed by the dismissal of two 1MDB-linked forfeiture suit against Barisan Nasional (BN) Johor Bahru and Jakel Trading, Malaysians continue to anticipate more similar verdicts of other charges against soon. Datuk Seri Bung Mokhtar Radin then hinted that Musa Aman’s release marks a change in Sabah state governance. To Malaysians, it equally marks Bung Mokhtar’s ‘soon-to-be acquittal’ as well.

What could these latest updates mean? Will this be a clear sign that the return of Barisan Nasional (BN) and UMNO kleptocrats is in the making? The acquittal and dismissal of these corruption-related charges will surely make way for Malaysia to re-experience more robbing of country’s wealth by the ruling government, particularly to ‘feed’ the greedy political leaders. These are also a clear sign that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin are reviving them and ignoring the people’s mandate given in 2018 to make Malaysia corruption-free.

Overwhelmed. Shocked. These are the words to express how concerned Malaysians feel after knowing about the High Court’s verdicts. Many have expressed disappointments and worry about these judgements. Many also have started foreseeing ‘the ghosts of the kleptocratic past’ haunting them once again. What more, Muhyiddin Yassin? Is this what you consider to be part of your 'good' 100th-days performance?
